So a few weekends ago we had the opportunity to go stay at my brother Scott’s house for the weekend so that Amy (Scott’s wife) could go meet Scott and have a ski weekend. We babysat their 3 children- Juliana, Jonathan and David. We stayed from Thursday until Tuesday night. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot too. We went out for Pizza on Friday and had soccer games on Saturday. Jonathan had a birthday party on Saturday night so we rented a movie and stayed in with Juliana and David. Sunday we went to church and stayed around the house. Monday night we met Travis and Tara Hartjen and their Kiddos for dinner at Chick-fil-a. It was fun and the kids played. We did have an issue arise with one of the kids at chick-fil-a but it was resolved pretty quickly. Tuesday the kids and Emily gave the dogs baths. Overall it was a lot of fun and we were really glad to see Scott and Amy on Tuesday night. They had a great time and skied three days.

Then, two weekends ago we went down to Houston to visit Tommy, DeAnne and Stephanie. Their new house is looking great and it was really nice to spend some quality time with them. We arrived Friday night at about 8 and went out to eat at a Chinese Bistro near by (really Yummy). Saturday we woke up and Tommy made us all breakfast. We then ran some errands and stopped by Billy and Jamie's house to see William Riley. He is so tiny. He is beautiful and we had a great time visiting and holding the precious new baby. We then headed home and fixed dinner. Tommy worked on the car and put in a new radiator for us. Praise God. We got up Sunday and went to church and had lunch. We then bummed around and headed back up to Dallas later that evening. We have had an eventful couple of weekends and thought we would post a blog and provide an update.

Here are some pictures of the kids and the dogs Quinn and Tozer hanging out:

Lifetime Collective + HIFI Club present Ben Tour

After 3 long years of communication and countless failed attempts
(were all a bit busy)
Ben Tour fiiiiiiiinally made it out for his exhibition at the HIFI
Club Last night. We couldn't be happier.

In the past few years Ben has been featured in Juxtapoz magazine,
had a solo exhibition at the infamous BLK/MRKT Gallery and the
Fifty/24 Gallery in San Francisco. Alot of (well deserved) headway for
any Canadian.

'PURE TRASH' is a collection of paintings Ben was commissioned
to develop for the Club. Lifetime Collective was onboard pulling
together a Lifetime/Smalltown Romeo Mix to help promote the show.
Much thanks to Trevor from Lifetime who spent most of the day on
a ladder hanging the work.

Great people all round last night even a surprise apperance by male model Greg Keech. Shouts out to DJ U Tern and Teddy Celebration for playing a great set to a sold out room.
Lot's Air Guitar and Dancing followed by an an impromptu
3am skate session. Tremendous Night.
Much Thanks to everyone came out.

TRUE Friends

Hellllllo Bloggers!
I haven't blogged in like a week so I thought I'd write a little something....I took a sleeping pill about 20 minutes ago though, so I don't have a lot of time....
Annnnyways, in one of my most recent blogs, I talked about how I had decided to make some changes in my life, mainly having to do with the people I was choosing to surround myself with on a daily basis. They were bringing me down to a level I finally realized would lead me nowhere.
Well, here's the cool thing...God has decided to show me that I made the right decision...I LOVE when He does this!!

When I first moved to town, I worked at Brighton in the Green Hills Mall for almost 2 years. I met my friend Katherine while working there. She was 2 years younger than me, so we were the only "college aged" girls who worked there....we immediately clicked. She quickly became my best friend here in Nashville, but unlike me, she actually went to college :) She goes to Tulane in New Orleans. (She is from Nashville though, so she would work at Brighton over holidays and summers) For some reason, we lost touch about a year and a half ago....she went back to school and we really drifted apart. Three days ago she sent me a message on facebook telling me how much she missed our friendship...it brought me to tears. God knew I needed my friend back, and He was gracious enough to place me on her heart that night.
Now, tonight I signed onto facebook again, and I had another message in my inbox....from yet another friend from the past....infact, another one of my BEST friends from high school....same sort of thing....I feel as though God is bringing back into my life all of the people who were once my TRUE friends...He is showing me that even though they may not live here in Nashville, I still have real friends...and that's all I really needed to know.
I've felt very lonely the past few weeks...knowing that my life has made some major changes isn't very easy. I know now though that I've made the right decisions. :)

Thank you to anyone reading this who has been a TRUE friend to me. I love you :)

xoxo
Emily

Change.

My whole life has changed direction in a matter of a week. I've had major life changes before, but never so many in such a short time. It's such a strange/scary feeling to have complete security on a day to day basis and then all the sudden you feel like you're walking on a 2 foot plank hundreds of feet off the ground...nothing to grab onto, nothing below to catch you if you fall...this is how I have felt for the past week.

1. My grandpa died a week ago today. I rushed home last Saturday, leaving Jaggy with Rob for the week I was there. I was really starting to miss home, but this was not a reason I was glad to be there. He was a great grandpa...he cared so much about his grand kids, I think to make up for his short comings as a dad to my mom and uncle, my Mom would tell you this same thing. He loved me so much, everytime I would go over to their house when I was home he would ask me if I was a hillbilly like my grandma now since I lived in TN. (She grew up in TN). I get my sense of humor from him. I'll miss him so much.

2. In the week I was home I "lost" pretty much every close friend I have here in Nashville. By lost I mean I realized what horrible people they really are. I'm not going to go into detail, but some things happened that really made me see them for the type of people they really are. I have decided to remove them all from my life, completely. Along with the places they hang out, which include Buckwild, and other places downtown. I'm taking a break from that whole "world" for awhile....It was starting to change me into the type of person that my "friends" were..and that's someone I never want to be. I need a change of lifestyle. No more going out every night, no more drinking, no more stupid guys, MORE focus on my music, MORE focus on my relationships that actually matter, MORE focus on God. Simple enough.

3. I thought I had a new job all in place, and it's turned out to not be what I thought, sooooo I'm still looking for a job...which I hate doing.

4. Apparently I got one to many speeding tickets and I have a "suspended license" until June.....awesome....could one more bad thing happen?? I always think no, but then something does! I'm trying sooo hard to keep that "positive thinking" thing going, but it's getting a little difficult to think positive when everything seems to be crumbling right before my eyes.

5. I've realized my heart belongs to someone....and I hurt him. He's everything, my best friend, my shoulder to cry on, my reason for laughing and smiling everyday....I miss him. He knows who he is. I'm sorry. I love you.

RED BULL 3STYLE EAST

Woah - we just got back from an intense tour with our mates Jokers Of The Scene and Kenny Mac of Red Bull fame. Red Bull 3Style is like a party-rocking fun-djing competition with a national finals happening next weekend in Toronto. We were asked to come along and judge as well as play after the competitors. David Lang documented the trip with his photograph machine. He is a professional:

Quebec City kicked it off - Canada's most gothic vibe. Dagobert - the club which hosted the party - looks like a chateau francais.
Photobucket

No - Daft Punk did not play - it's the house lighting at Dagobert
Photobucket

Smalltown played though, and so did the Jokers.
Photobucket

Then we ate so much poutine that I almost didn't wake up the next day. But I did.

Speaking of Jokers - we spent a lot of time in vans and airports with the JOTS. They are top mates
Photobucket

Next it was off to Halifax, where our homie Double A was entered in the contest. He killed it.
Photobucket

Cosmo also killed it and ended up winning, with Double A coming in second.

Then it was time to dance
Photobucket

After which we ate the grossest Donair I have ever seen. It was like sweet sandpaper topped in pepperoni and milk. I know.

Montreal was the next city in the path of destruction.

A-Rock ended up winning, and played the best set we saw all weekend.
Photobucket

We had a ton of fun there too.
Photobucket

Big Ups to Kenny Mac, Jokers of the Scene, Hatchmatik, Team Canada, Skratch Bastid, Double A, A-Rock, Red Bull, DL, and everybody else we hung out with on the weekend.

Also - please check out David Lang's photos: www.davidlangphoto.com

Bye

OLLI OLLI OLLI! OI OI OI!

Wow, great acquisition by les Flames. Jokinen's a proven scorer and leader and he's big and strong like an ox. Makes the Flames' trio of centermen - Jokinen, Langkow, Conroy - probably the best in the league. Plus he's under contract through next season and he'll be a good Finn-mate for Kiprusoff. We'll miss you Lombardi.. not.

GO THE FLAMES!
